-------------------POKEMON - MORE THAN JUST A GAME!!!----------------------

<------ Original Message ----- >

Do circulate this around. You never know that you might be helping some parents, young children, nieces, nephews, etc.

POKEMON (i.e. Pocket Monsters) invades homes, takes control of children's lives, is turning their world, and some homes, upside down! If you value your children's future, read on.

With that introduction, let's get down to business. It is a billion dollar industry spanning the globe, capturing young minds, moulding lives at a tender age, enlisting millions into Satan's army. Without firing a shot, the adversary, that wily foe, the unseen roaring lion has gained control of homes and schools while Christian parents, lulled into deadly indifference by the deceiver, pass it as "harmless entertainment," just another "card game." How wrong can they be! And Satan simply blazes on captivating more kids, laughing all the way to his Pokemon gaming house.

WHAT IS POKEMON?

POKEMON is POCKET MONSTER for short. It originated in Japan and is marketed in the form of VIDEO GAMES, TV CARTOONS, MOVIES, COMIC BOOKS, TOYS, CLOTHING, VHS VIDEOS, and the CARD GAME.

It is the CARD GAME which caught on and exploded almost overnight into a multi-billion dollar industry in America. Like a virus the craze has infected virtually all media outlets, raging like a forest fire out of control and spreading around the globe, Singapore, Australia and Asia included. School children close their books and leave their homework to play their Pokemon cards, and after each session are begging for more. Mind you, the cards are not cheap and parents have to dig into their pockets to keep up with fresh supplies.

Satan, disguised as an "angel of light" has them all fooled, hooked by this immensely mind-gripping collector game. And each session ends with the call: "Gotta catch 'em all ' "All" means 150 of them, with 100 more on the way. If a child collects 200 cards at 50 cents each, you can imagine the huge profits pouring into the manufacturers' pockets.

THE POKEMON PRODUCERS - "By the tree know the fruits". From the web page of the producer comes this quote: "The Pokemon Trading Card Game is a new collectable Card Game that is made and distributed by Wizards of the Coast, the same company that made the best selling game: Magic: The Gathering Magic." The Gathering is an occult trading card game full of deadly poison.

Wizards of the Coast also produce "Dungeons and Dragons," another occult game.

POKEMON TAPS OCCULT POWERS

No, my friend, Pokemon is no "harmless game" but every pocket monster wields unseen power, tapped from demon forces of the spirit world. Things are not what they seem; there's more than meets the eye. Satan the master deceiver is the unseen power we must beware.

CHILDREN TAKE ON POKEMON ROLES

In the game the young player enters the realm of "role-play" where fantasy becomes real: the child becomes the player, wielding unseen (but real and demonic) powers. Playing their Pokemons, they become channels for spiritual forces. Instructed by the Pokemon programmer the child learns to say, "My will be done!" He has assumed paranormal supernatural powers simply by uttering Satan-inspired words.

Suddenly fantasy becomes reality. The child is on the way to becoming a medium for demonic spirits. Of course at first it is quite harmless, but that is part of the 'wiles of the devil." It takes time and the devil is patient and subtle.

The Pokemon games master programmes the child to enter into the realm of occultism and violence. Calling on spirit forces, he learns to attack the opponent, to hurt, cripple, poison, and destroy with new-found words of demonic power, deception and destruction.

You say, "Oh it's only PLAY PLAY."

So it is. The devil comes disguised: that's how innocent kids are taken in. It's so innocent! So it was with Eve in the Garden: one small slip and she sent the whole human race into a downward plunge of no return. That was long ago. Today it is Pokemon, the devil's trump card for the new millennium.

Pokemon teaches the child to believe he has power over opponents and over life. "My will be done!" The Creator's authority and rightful place is sidelined, the player is supreme. Repetitive usage of Pokemon vocabulary and rules gradually alters the child's thought pattern and eventually changes his personality. The sanctity of life, the fear of God, and the respect of parents and authority slowly but surely erode away. The compulsive craving to "catch 'em all" keeps the youthful player constantly in quest of more Pokemons, until he has all 150 of them. But no, there are more in the pipeline. This year another hundred will hit the stores, to keep the craze red hot.

As a result parents and homes (and schoolwork) are left out in the cold. Pokemon comes first. Once the child is hooked, his mind is conditioned to more advanced, sophisticated, and adult ideas. Pokemons react and interact as part of the game. Here's a sampling of how these creatures carry on: "Ash and Misty are Pokemons. Misty is headstrong and stubborn and seems to harbour feelings for Ash. But the most hormonal is Brock, whose undisguised fascination for the opposite sex often gets him into trouble, although he is yet to have anything resembling a score. As for Jessie and James, they are an evil pair, stuck up, fashion conscious, and prone to cross-dressing."

The Bible vocabulary of wholesome Spirit-breathed words is completely displaced, replaced by the language of the world - the vocabulary of the god of this world. The child imbibes terms relating to sex and violence, deception and death from a young age.

POKEMON'S POWER SOURCE

"Spiritual things are spiritually discerned" (I Cor 2:14). 'Me world and the worldly-minded cannot understand the spiritual harm of a card game because this is a spiritual matter. The fact is the transformed adversary, as an angel of light makes an easy entry by the normal social channel. Once admitted, his demons inject their supernatural powers and occult energy, and before one is aware the New Age pantheism is entrenched in a million young innocent minds. As of now New Age forces have invaded virtually every area of life in North America, and soon the entire world. Satan is smarter than you think.

Pokemon's powers are inestimable and mysterious. Some Pokemons grow and evolve, become bigger and more powerful. Occult incantations and magic words (Abrakadabra) throw open the door to evil Satanic forces, and things are never the same again: the enemy of man soul has gained a foothold. Do not under-estimate Pokemon power. Meet some of these Pocket Monsters:

Abra: he reads your mind!

Kadabra: he strikes with alpha rays

Psyduck: beware his psychic powers.

Muk: emits toxic gas, even its footprints contain poison.

Ormanyte: has power of clairvoyance.

Finally, be warned. Children, guided by their Pokemon masters, can summon the forces on their cards by calling, "Spirits, enter me!" This is one step toward demon possession. Playing Pokemon is playing with fire - strange fire which can eventually lead to mindless acts of violence and senseless destruction. The situation is serious. If we do nothing a whole generation of children and youths will be lost to the Pokemon forces. But all is not lost, yet. 'It's better late than never." The time has come to call a halt to this unopposed invasion. We must act to save our children. The time to act is now.

WHAT MUST WE DO?

Firstly, we ourselves must be convinced of the incalculable harm Pokemon is doing to our youths; that through endless hours of immersion in an evil occult-saturated environment, Pokemon kids playing monster roles, speaking monster language, and thinking monster thoughts, our children's minds (and character and behaviour) are slowly but surely being poisoned and alienated from all that is godly, pure, filial and socially beneficial.

Secondly, we must be convinced that our children's time, energies, associations and affections can be more profitably channelled into healthy, beneficial and profitable activities. There are alternatives which all parents are aware of in the great range of games and recreations both outdoor and indoor available to our children. It may be that some parents have fallen into a trap of being "too busy" for their children. Beware, we have our children, our most precious assets, only once: while they are young. Can we not spend time together with them in some healthy wholesome activity? Think! Together we can overcome the Pokemon threat.

WHAT DOES GOD'S WORD SAY?

God's Word has clear instruction for His people on how to bring up children and to lead them in paths of righteousness and peace. God's Word says it simply, and so should we.

Simply said, there are seven points for our consideration.

  1. Proverbs 22:6 - " Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it " Parents - fathers and mothers - play your part lovingly and caringly. You neglect them to your later regret. God has placed this responsibility squarely on you, so pray for wisdom to do, and to do it well. Our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Eph 3:20). - Pray daily for your children. God will answer your prayer.
  2. Ephesians 5. "Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children" (verse 1); "walk as children of light ... Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them" (verses 8, 10, 11). Pokemons: monstrous concoctions of "Wizards of the Coast" are hideous, grotesque, demonic creatures of the underworld. Question: Why should Christian children have any fellowship with these "works of darkness?" Think!
  3. Leviticus 19:31. "Neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them." Pokemon came out of the evil minds of the "Wizards of the Coast." God has a particular warning against wizards and those that have "familiar spirits," for these belong to the hosts of hell, agents of the devil. God's people must have no dealings with the forces of the devil (which can bring nothing but harm). Isaiah 8:19 has similar warning.
  4. Ephesians 6:1-3. "Children,, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother ... That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long." Filial piety, sadly, is not emphasised as it should be, whether in schools or in church. God help our godly parents to lead our children by example and by precept, in obeying this very blessed and wonderful fourth commandment. Filial children will realise that Pokemons are a great hindrance to filial piety.
  5. Ephesians 5:15. "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise." Circumspection is godly wisdom, to look at Pokemon with God-given eyesight, from all angles, and to appreciate its total corruption and evil content. Circumspection is to see Pokemon as an anti-social, anti-God invention which does incalculable harm to our children's spiritual growth. Wisdom is to shun that which is evil and to cleave to that which is good. Pray for wisdom therefore.
  6. Ephesians 5:16. "Redeeming the time, because the days are evil." And so they are - the days wherein we live. These are days of increasing ungodliness, worldliness, described by the Apostle in 2 Timothy 3:14: 'This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves ... disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy ... lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God." In times like these, let us teach our children (and ourselves) to "redeem the time," that is, to make our days and hours count for the Lord, in spiritually profitable things, not in Pokemon and such like pursuits.
  7. Philippians 4:8,9. "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true...honest ... just ...pure ... lovely ... of good report; if there be any virtue ... if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do and the God of peace shall be with you." God's Word, the divine searchlight, exposes Pokemon as not true, not honest, not just, not pure, not lovely, not of good report, without any virtue, without any praise.

Question: Should a child of God be immersed for long hours thinking Pokemon, acting Pokemon and becoming a Pokemon? Pocket monster! Think - your child a monster? God forbid!

Dear readers, let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the whole armour of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Eph 6:11). Then "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints" (verse 18).

Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ.
